and simplest dress if not leather's

as decoratively torn

at the sleeves and shoulders,

Showing his flat and naked chest

in details of individual bones

and body that may project

realism of his writings

scrolled unto his left hand

while his feather adds

notes to grand paper

unfolding over his books,

His face is caught in shade of background

as modest and tranquil as writer’s

and wrinkles of his slender skin

sign a man beyond physical maturity

in a style very close to poverty,

When his right eye lights up

to care for the writing

evolving from the shade

under his hand.
